Seminar: How Leveraging Data Can Help Your Business

Over 30 CHHMA and COPA members attended a seminar sponsored by Askuity on February 21, 2018 at the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation in Mississauga which covered the topic of Leveraging Data and how it can be utilized to better strengthen your relationship with customers and grow your sales.

Victor Coscarella, Eric Green and Kate Ragotte from Askuity (a retail sales enablement platform that collects, cleanses and analyzes POS, inventory, ship-to data etc.) gave an excellent presentation on the type of data analysis & reporting that their company can provide brand owners and the benefits it offers to vendors.

The Askuity team also reviewed some of the market research, reports and articles (specific to the Hardware, Housewares and Office Products categories) that they undertake and provide. Click here to view some of this content which they discussed during the seminar.

As they outlined, there is a lot of data that is available from retailers but it can be overwhelming and time consuming to dig through and analyze which customers are expecting their vendors to do. This is where Askuity can step in to help companies best utilize that data for improved product decision making and forecasting.

We would like to thank Victor, Eric and Kate for sponsoring the event and taking the time to present and meet with our members. We look forward to working with Askuity as a new service provider partner with the Association. You can visit their website at for more information.

Also, for being a member of the CHHMA, you are eligible for a 15% discount on their services, so please check them out.

After their presentation, a draw was held in which WD-40 Company (Canada) was the lucky winner for a 6 months free offering on an annual Askuity license for any one retailer.

During the second part of the data information session, Bob Smith, an analyst who has been working with COPA for a number of years, discussed the industry sales data on hardware/housewares products (based on HS tariff codes) that the CHHMA is looking to make available to our members (an added value benefit of membership) in the near future. The data is publicly available through Stats Canada and other Trade Data sources but again takes time and effort to retrieve and analyze and we would like to try to save some of that work for our members and put together reports several times a year based on a number of categories within the industry.

The Association also has access to sales data of major retailers in North America and globally, so we would like to hear back from members on what type of data/reports you would like to see from us. You can pass your comments on to CHHMA President Sam Moncada at 416-282-0022 ext.125 or
