Heartsaver CPR AED Training Course

A group of CHHMA and COPA members successfully completed a valuable half-day Heartsaver® CPR AED training course on August 14th at the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation (CHSI) in Mississauga.

The 3 1/2 hour course was instructed by paramedic Pete Fairfull with the most up-to-date science from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

What is Heartsaver® CPR AED?

Heartsaver® is the Canadian standard in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training. This straightforward, yet comprehensive course provides you with the skills and confidence to respond to a cardiac arrest at home, in public or at work.

Who is Heartsaver® for?

- Heartsaver® is designed for everyday Canadians who don’t have medical training but who want to learn how to help someone having a cardiac arrest.
- People who need a course completion card for workplace, volunteer or other requirements.
- Anyone who wants to be ready, willing and able to help in case of a cardiac arrest or choking.
- Parents and families with children or infants, who want to be prepared for a choking or other health emergency.

Why is Heartsaver ® important for you?

The vast majority (85%) of cardiac arrests happen at home, in public places and workplaces. If you ever witness a cardiac arrest, chances are it will happen to a family member or someone you work with or care about. And that makes it personal.

CHHMA & COPA will be looking at conducting more of these courses for our members in the future.
