On October 10th, at the Toronto Parkway North Hotel, we were joined by over 150 of our members for a breakfast meeting where we hosted Mr. Glenn Bingley of The Home Depot.
Mr. Bingley is Vice President of Merchandising in Canada and had kindly agreed to provide our membership with some insight into their approach in Canada.
Mr. Bingley gave a presentation which was interesting and informative. Throughout, he provided an abundance of statistics on the Canadian market and was very open in describing how The Home Depot intends to grow in the next ten years in Canada. Most importantly to those present, were his thoughts on the future of the market. He described the potential for acquisitions and also the newer store formats that they will be rolling out. He also spoke in some detail about the various key growth commodities that The Home Depot have been capitalizing on in the past few years, and where they will place their emphasis going forward.
